
Frequently called upon to discuss key issues from adolescent obesity to the psychological effects of the economic downturn, Dr. Leslie Seppinni is a Doctor of Clinical Psychology (Psy.D) and Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT) with over 18 years of experience specializing in cognitive behavioral therapy. Based on her own journey overcoming adversity and her extensive clinical experience and education, Dr. Leslie’s “Excuse Free Living” philosophy focuses on “The 4 C’s: Curiosity, Conviction, Courage and Commitment.” Dr. Leslie’s background as a Crisis Intervention Specialist enables her to discuss a wide spectrum of psychology-related topics, and her unique specialty is in treating the emotional effects of traditional weight loss and bariatric surgery.
Dr. Leslie is the National Mental Health Examiner for Examiner.com, and has appeared on “CBS Evening News with Katie Couric,” CNN’s “Nancy Grace” and regional television shows throughout the country. In addition, Dr. Leslie authored the “Ask the Psychologist” column in Obesity Help magazine, is a Mental Health Board member for Obesity Help and is a contributing columnist in Bariatrics Today.
A distinguished public speaker, Dr. Leslie has been a featured speaker for The Learning Annex, and originated workshops including “Team Building;” “Stress Management;” “Behavior Modification;” “Problem Solving Strategies and Employee Productivity;” and “Emotional Issues Related to Obesity, Compulsive Overeating, and Alternative Addiction Post Weight Loss.”
Dr. Leslie has held staff privileges at UCLA Medical Center (Neuro-Psychiatric Institute), Santa Monica Hospital, Sherman Oaks Hospital and Mission Community Hospital, among others. She has assisted the Los Angeles Police Department and FBI by providing expert negotiation and intervention. Dr. Leslie holds a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Ryokan Psychology College, a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Southern California (USC) and a B.A. in Sociology from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA).
